Climbing Power Poles

Climbing power poles can be dangerous business. Not only is there the risks posed by the electricity but there is also the risk of falling off the pole or the power pole falling over.

The latest revision of AS/NZS 4836 details that:

  • Extra caution should be exercised when working on or near exposed energised overhead conductors
  • The need for fall arrest systems
  • Poles and structures shall be tested and inspected as structurally sound before working on the pole
  • EWPs should be used whenever possible
  • etc
