This course follows on from our Electric Shock Investigation Course and pulls all the information from that course into a final report (as an assignment).
This course involves reviewing some of theory for electrical report writing from the Forensic Incident Investigation module from the Electric Shock Investigation Course and extending on this, reviewing the incident details, performing the analysis, developing a hypothesis, carrying out root cause analysis, determining corrective and preventative actions and then writing the report.
The incident involves the electrocution of an electrical worker in an industrial type situation.
Report writing is typically a skill that must be learnt and electrical skills are necessary to analyse and develop a hypothesis for the assignment report. This course also includes a brief module on Incident Cause Analysis.
There is approximately two days work for this course, depending on the trainee’s level of skill in report writing/possibly two days for the untrained report writer. Additionally, completion of this course provides 12 hours for your Energy Safe Victoria CPD Skills Development requirements.
A ‘zoom’ meeting or telephone call may be held at the completion of the report to discuss findings. An 80% mark is required to demonstrate competence. Some trainees may need to resubmit their report to achieve competency.
You have 45 days to complete this course once enrolled but this can be extended.
The course was well structured and thorough. Presented examples of good and bad reports were very helpful in framing my written assignment. Chris provided great input both as an instructor and as “WHS Manager etc of Smithville Pump Station”
Stuart Leetham, Electrical Inspector – ACT Government
“I thoroughly enjoyed the Electrical Report Writing course. The content was practical and relevant to my field of work and I feel much more confident and capable of preparing clear, structured technical reports. Initially, I found structuring the report a bit challenging, but the course materials and some external study helped me understand how to present information logically and professionally. Overall, it was a well delivered and engaging course.”
